Enroll in Kindergarten
Welcome and Bienvenidos to Kindergarten!
How Registration Works
There are two different links for registration, of which you will only use one:
-
For families new to the Red Hook Central School District, use this link.
-
For families with a student already attending a district school, use this link.
If your household does not have an existing student attending a district school, visit this link. There, you will be asked to input your household information, including address and contact information. This registers your household with the district's "Parent Portal."
You will receive an email from sender "admin-us@operoo.com" and a subject line "Red Hook Central School District - Operoo Account Created". Operoo is the district's system for uploading digital documents. The email will include a username and password to be used at Operoo.
Upload necessary student and household documents to Operoo to complete registration.
Hard copies of registration packets are available upon request if you cannot access a computer. Call JoAnn Johnson at 845-758-2241 ext. 55320.
If your household has a current student attending a district school, visit this link and click on the blue "Register New Student" box on the right and add the student to your existing account.
You will receive an email from Operoo alerting you there are new forms that need to be completed. Use your existing username and password at Operoo.
Upload necessary student and household documents to Operoo to complete registration.
Hard copies of registration packets are available upon request if you cannot access a computer. Call JoAnn Johnson at 845-758-2241 ext. 55320.
FAQs
-
No. The registration process is entirely online this year.
-
Yes, but it's helpful for the school to complete the full registration and screening process in the spring to best prepare a student and their future classroom setting for the fall. Registrants after the deadline will be screened at a future time to be determined.
-
The registration process is meant to enter a students' information and family contact information into the school's database. Because pre-K students are already in the database, nothing more is needed.
-
The screening is an opportunity for Mill Road staff to welcome students to the school and let them begin to feel comfortable. Staff checks on a student's basic kindergarten readiness in the areas of self-care, language, cognitive skills, and fine and gross motor skills. The students also meet with our school nurse, who will carry out a hearing a vision screening, while parents and guardians have the opportunity to meet with school staff.
-
Once you complete the online registration, you can expect to receive a call to schedule a time for the screening.

Mill Road Elementary School, which serves grades PK-5, is located at 9 Mill Road, Red Hook, NY, 12571. The entrance for the PK-2 side of the school is on the northern side of the building.
What to expect at a student’s entry screening?
First and foremost, the screening is an opportunity for Mill Road staff to provide a warm welcome to incoming student and their families. The entire process will take between an hour to 90 minutes, at the end of which families should leave without any questions regarding how their student’s kindergarten experience will begin.
Students will meet with a teacher, speech language therapist and an occipational or physical therapy provider. Students will be checked for basic kindergarten readiness in the following areas:
- Self-care
- Language
- Cognitive skills
- Fine and gross motor skills
Students will also meet our school nurse, who will conduct a hearing and vision screening.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians will meet with school administrators and our administration team to review important information. It’s also an opportunity for parents to ask any questions they may have.
